Ghent...
is a city and a municipality located in the Flemish region of Belgium. It is the capital and biggest city of the East Flanders province. The city started as a settlement at the confluence of the rivers "Schelde" and "Leie" and in the Middle Ages became one of the largest and richest cities of northern Europe. Today it is a busy city with a port and a university.

Arrival
You can take a train to Gent upon arrival at the Brussels Zaventem airport. There is one every half hour and you arrive in Gent Sint-Pieters railway station after a 45' journey. In case you have a room from Sovoarte (housing service Artevelde); you will have to take a tram to your room (after having met with the Sovoarte-people who will have given you the keys and will have explained to you which streetcar to take).
Arriving during the weekend or on holidays is not possible. In that case you have to go to a youth hostel.

At Number 7 is Ghent, described as possibly 'the best European city you've never thought of visiting'.
The city has a rich history, with stunning medieval architecture that is still very well preserved. Some of the must-see destinations are the Saint Bavo Cathedral, Gravensteen castle, old Graslei harbour apart from the many beautiful churches.
Apart from the historic attractions, Ghent offers a number of eateries offering up local and international cuisine and many popular cultural and music events.
